With the recent abduction and murder of a sweet 10 year old girl here in Colorado, I find myself being much more cautious with my children.
I wonder why God allows these things to happen. I know we live in a fallen world, but it seems to be getting more and more difficult to be a parent. As a mom, many times after hearing a story like this, I don't want to let my kids out of my sight.
But as Christian, we should have a sense of peace and know that our Heavenly Father will take care of our children.
When we pray, I believe that God hears and answer our prayers. Each day, when my kids are not with me, I immediately start praying over them. I praying for their protection, I speak life over them and pray for courage and safety. I believe that God honors these prayers.
I am by no means am I saying that if this little girl's mom would have prayed more, that she would still be here. I am just saying that we can live in peace and know that our children's lives are in the hands of God and that praying Scripture is our best defense against evil one.
When I find myself in disbelief over something that has happened to a young child, I immediately pray for my children-- that that will never happen to them. Whether it's a horrific car accident, and abduction, or a terrible disease, I immediately turn to Jesus and ask Him to protect my child. I hope that you will start praying a hedge of protection over your children each and every day, throughout the day, it into their adult lives.
